Silverleaf Resorts, a well-known timeshare developer has received a temporary injunction to halt construction of ten wind turbines along Brodie Mountain in Massachusetts. The turbines are being built by Berkshire Wind Power Cooperative Corp. Silverleaf plans to develop the former Brodie Mountain Ski Resort in New Ashford into 324 timeshare units in 27 buildings and does not want the turbines to be an eye-sore for would-be buyers of the timeshares.
Construction of the wind project was expected to be completed by January, 2010 and be fully operational by the Spring. The injunction puts the plans on hold until the Courts decide on a ruling while a pending lawsuit by Silverleaf continues. When completed the ten turbines would produce enough electricity for 6,000 homes. One has to wonder whether the timeshare resort will get any of its power from the green energy source? Popcorn please.
